The form collects your email address, your first name if you provide it, and the choices you make about advance reader copies and newsletter updates. A record of when you submitted the form and the versions of the choices and privacy notice you saw is kept with your request.
Your email address is required to submit a request; your name is optional. The form does not verify that you own the email address. Please use your own address.
Two separate choices
- Advance reader copy: choosing this option allows your details to be used to consider and manage your request for Where Steel Failed, including contact about that request.
- Newsletter: choosing this option records your consent to receive news about The Old Hunger and future releases. You can request an ARC without choosing newsletter updates.
These uses are based on the consent you give through your selected options. Neither option is selected in advance. Technical safeguards against spam and misuse are based on the legitimate interest in keeping the website and reader requests secure.
What happens after you send
The form saves your request and selected preferences. It does not automatically send an email, a book or a download link. No newsletter delivery provider is connected to this form.
A receipt message confirms that the request was received; it does not confirm ownership of your email address or acceptance for an advance reader copy. ARC consideration is separate from newsletter signup.
Storage and access
Requests are stored in a private database for this website, hosted by Aruba. Access is limited to those responsible for managing reader requests and maintaining the website, and the hosting provider where needed to operate the service.
The form does not send your details to BookFunnel, BookSirens or a newsletter platform, and your details are not sold. Links to other websites lead to services with their own privacy notices.
How long information is kept
Reader requests are kept for as long as needed to consider and manage the request. Newsletter preferences are kept while your interest remains active, until you withdraw consent or the information is no longer needed.
Limited records may need to be retained to document your choices or withdrawal, meet legal obligations or handle claims. Security records are retained according to what is needed to prevent misuse and investigate incidents.
Change your mind or exercise your rights
You can withdraw either choice at any time by emailing aurora@theoldhunger.com. Say whether you want to withdraw your ARC request, stop newsletter updates, or both. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew.
You may request access to, correction or deletion of your information, restriction of processing, and a portable copy where applicable. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies and technical records
This website and form do not use analytics trackers, marketing cookies or third-party newsletter widgets. The form does not set cookies.
Technical request data are used to limit automated abuse. The form stores coded security counters separately from reader requests. Hosting server logs may also contain technical information such as IP addresses, request times and browser details for operating and securing the service.
The form does not use profiling or automated decisions to select ARC readers.
